PERKINELMER AND GENOMIC SOLUTIONS SIGN NEW OEM DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT FOR ADVANCED PROTEOMICS SOLUTIONS

BOSTON – PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences, a leading provider of drug discovery, life science research, and analytical solutions, today announced a new OEM distribution agreement with Genomic Solutions, a Harvard Biosciences company. The agreement gives PerkinElmer worldwide distribution rights to Genomic Solutions' private label products manufactured exclusively for PerkinElmer, the ProXCISION™ Proteomics Gel Cutting Robot, and the HybArray™ 12 DNA Hybridization Workstation. Under reciprocal arrangement, Genomic Solutions receives the right to distribute Proteome™ 1-D Analyzer software. This 1-D gel analysis software, which was developed by Nonlinear Dynamics Limited for PerkinElmer, offers the capability to export band coordinates directly to the ProXCISION system.

Effective January 1, 2003, the agreement provides PerkinElmer a proteomics gel spot cutter to complete the Company's total solution for gel-based proteomics. The full line includes instruments such as the ProXPRESS™ Proteomics Imaging System, ProXCISION, MultiPROBE™ II Proteomics Workstation for protein digestion and MALDI spotting, TOFprep™ MALDI Spotting System, and the recently announced prOTOF™ 2000 MALDI O-TOF mass spectrometer from PerkinElmer and MDS Sciex for protein identification.

“Our agreement with Genomic Solutions is a component of PerkinElmer's commitment to providing best-in-class solutions with greater overall product value for proteomics researchers,” said Paul Gillyon, vice president and general manager, Biopharmaceutical, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences. “The worldwide proteomics market is growing by nearly 40 percent annually. With new systems being developed, we are well positioned to be the provider of choice for proteomics instrumentation, software, reagents and consumables.”

“We are excited to gain access to PerkinElmer's next-generation software while expanding the utilization of our industry-leading products,” said Jeff Williams, CEO of Genomic Solutions. “The combined expertise of PerkinElmer and Genomic Solutions will provide true end-to-end solutions for today's proteomics market.”
